Surfing and Shopping on the Internet Safely

We have all heard the horror stories of identity theft, overcharged credit cards,
and buying online never to receive the product ordered.

While this can and does happen the media has blown it a bit out of proportion to
the real world.  Remember “news” very often will take the most shocking, extreme
stories it can find to get people to watch, but don’t let this keep you from enjoying
all the internet has to offer.

There are several steps to being safe when surfing and shopping on the internet.
*  Make sure you have taken advantage of the Windows Security Updates on your
computer.  The goal with these updates is to find any security “holes” and patch

Computer Terms – What is a Filetype?

Learning how to use your computer at times can be confusing because of the
“language” and terms that may be unfamiliar to you.

With this in mind, don’t panic there are some great resources to understand what all
these terms mean if you need to understand them.  One of the most helpful links you
can know is Google.com

Think of Google as the worlds largest encyclopedia, it is how most people find
answers to questions and it is very “friendly” in that you can type a question into
